Living Room & Parlor Decked Out

The most important piece in our home next to the tree...Hand made in Italy many, many years ago.
Part of our collection of santas in a bookcase under the TV. On the top shelve are handmade, woodland ones on both ends. In the middle, santa with a Canadian goose and an Irish Santa with lamb. Carolers and more santas underneath.
This vignette is in the corner f my living room.
I painted the santa plate many years ago.
This skater is lovely with sparkly cotton clothing.
Santa riding a polar bear...He's my favorite.

Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

The tree is a vision of white this year. It is decorated with glass icicles & tear drops, crocheted snowflakes, crystal snowflake garland, ice crystal garland, white German candles, pearl bead garland, red berry clusters and red apples with family names. Bagged snow flakes were tossed on the tree for effect.

This tree is in the corner in the dining room. It is simply decorated with miniature angels, skaters, & carolers.
This is a dried flower tree covered with flowers dried from my garden: lydrangea, roses, sumac, hops & more set in an old trunk with a tray, santa and stocking.

Christmas Trees Past

This one is frosted with a light spraying of snow.
A closeup of the most important ornament.
Fine, gold tinsel from Germany coats this tree.
Vintage ornament dating back to 1945 adorn it.
Puffs of snow adorn this wintery tree.
Frosty gardland tops the minature village below.
Lots of red apples with names of all our family members highlight this tree. The one below has a woodland theme with pheasant feathers.
My trees have varied greatly in their decorations over the years. One of my favorites (which I do not have a picture of) was when my children were little. It was decorated with homeade cookies, candy canes, gold, foiled chocolates and popcorn garland. By the time Christmas arrived it was stripped bare up as far as my girls could reach.  Sure it looked funny on Christmas Day but it brings the most beautiful memories.

Holiday Table Scapes

This is a rustic, woodland setting with birch yule logs.
Set for a brunch with cardinal dishes and placemats.
A simple setting with santas and a white pictures with greens.
Cloche over santas, candle in the middle set on a vintage tablecloth.
A collection of milk glass bud vases filled with faux berries makes ready for dessert.
Placemats are pretty with a felt snowflake topped with a glass container filled with faux berries.

Dried Flower Tree

Working on my dried flower tree today. Everything on it was grown in our garden, then dried.
Hydrangeas, hops, money plant, asters, roses, tamarac, & wormwood provide the decorations.

All Dressed Up

Change out the flowers to match this season or your colors.
        Looking good enough to eat.
I used a number of small juice glasses for mini bouquets, a med bouquet and a tussie mussie, letting the candles take center stage.
A satin napkin captured by a charm on a silver charger. Below the set of rings features a variety of vintage jewelry.

Bedroom Beauty

Dried flowers in an old window frame. I purchased this at a craft show.
 So pretty beside the bed.
This is a nightstand that I bought at a garage sale for $5, then repainted.
This is the a view of the second twin bed. The spreads are full size as I was unable to find anything I like in twin size.  I made the wreath.
This lovely old chair was a find at an antique store for $15.
This rug is so pretty and in like new condition. Found this treasure at a garage sale for $20.
This baby dress was snatched at a garage sale for $3, the communion veil for 50cents.
I smocked the pillows after finding the patterns on E Bay.
This is a full view of the Green Guest Room. The picture below is of the top of a small chest of drawers tucked in beside the closet. The dresser scarf was made by my mother, the mirror is a gift from a friend handmade by her husband, the tin picked up at garage sale, and the frame was also a gift. The picture is of my granddaughter.
This is one of my guest bedrooms. It is small, but cute. The closet does not have a door, so I hung a curtain on it to match the window. It is a mixture of odds and ends picked up over the years and was done on a very small budget.

Comfort Food

As the winds are howling from Sandy, it's cloudy and gray and the temps are dropping, it is the perfect time to bake up some hearty pasties.  Brought to this country by the miners, these are great for hunters too.

Fall Tablescape

This fall tablescape is perfect from October to Thanksgiving..  Warm and inviting.  An added bonus; it doesn't show spots.

First Tablecloth

This is my first tablecloth design.  I purchased the material just because I thought it was so beautiful. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.  Had numerous ideas going round and round in my head. Too many, so I just started sewing and the result was my web store...lydiaandnathalia.com.  Visit for a fine selection of table dressings.
